Apple sometimes offers deals on what they call “reconditioned” products. This is usually stuff that was used in Apple retail stores for demos, or that was purchased and then returned, that kind of thing. For instance, I found an amazing deal for a friend of mine last year on a 20” Apple Cinema Display that had been on display in an Apple Store. I think it came to something like $400 off retail price.
Apple currently has a whole bunch of reconditioned Macs of all shapes and sizes on sale on their online store. Some of the deals are just okay — a couple hundred bucks off of an iMac — but some are screaming hot, like the dual 2 GHz Power Macintosh G5 that’s going for $1,999, a thousand bucks off retail price.
If you’re looking to buy a Mac and you’re more interested in saving some money than on getting the absolute newest models, check out Apple’s specials.
