A friend and fellow “Battlestar Galactica” fan asked me to design an “Adama is a cylon” tee shirt. (Don’t worry, I’m not giving anything away. It’s just a little inside joke.) So I cooked up the item that follows. It’s still a work in progress, but I think it’s coming along pretty nicely. Click here to see a slightly less low-res version. The real thing is about 3,000 pixels across.
The type is hand-drawn in Illustrator (except for the “is a” in the middle, of course; that’s Eurostile Bold Extended No. 2), and the distressing effects are applied in Photoshop at high resolution. I’m not entirely sure about the “L” in “cylon.” I used some type references from the titles of the 1970s TV show to get a feel for the type, but I’m not sure I love the slightly whimsical look of the “L.” I may change it.
Whether these will ever actually get made is entirely up for debate, but in any case it was a fun little project.
