I’ve gotten a number of e-mails in the past 12 hours from people asking me to blog about the Ben Domenech incident. In short, Ben Domenech, who blogs for the Washington Post, has been accused of plagiarism. Bloggers, commentators and writers from all over the place are coming out either in Ben’s defense or rising up to condemn him. I’ve been asked, by readers, to comment on the situation.
I make it a point not to comment on personal scandals involving people I know.
Ben and I aren’t good friends; I saw him most recently on Sunday, but if you showed him a picture of me, I’m not sure he could tell you my name. But I know him socially, and because of that, I’ve decided to keep my nose out of this one.
Want other opinions? Read what Michelle wrote, or what Rick Moran wrote. Those are just two I pulled out of my news reader at random; many others have commented. Go read what they said, and let me remain silent on the question.
Update
Well, I guess it’s all moot now. Ben has resigned.
2nd Update
In a conversation about just how much damage this incident is going to do to Ben’s career, a D.C.-area blogger who wishes to remain nameless said, “He can always get a job at the Heritage Foundation.”
Oooh. Burn.
