I use Parallels on my Mac to run Windows for those occasional times when I need it.
I had some hard drive problems recently that resulted in a fresh installation. I restored my Parallels files from a backup, but I lost my installation of the software itself.
No problem, right? I’ll just go download it.
Except in the months since I bought it, the guys have released an update to version 3.0, and my license key won’t work any more. It’s a paid upgrade.
Crap.
So I sent the guys a support request basically telling my tale of woe. I gave them my license key and asked if there was any way to get ahold of an older version that I could use without upgrading.
This all happened yesterday, late afternoon.
This morning they sent me an e-mail with a link to the last release of the previous version. No muss, no fuss.
Those guys are really pretty cool, man.

When I bought my Mac Pro I installed Boot Camp, sliced out 100Gig of space and threw Vista on it.
After a few early trips to Vista-land I haven’t had the need to go back for 3 months. Other than gaming, which I haven’t had much of a taste for lately, there’s just no need.

http://oldversion.com/ doesn’t seem to have Parallels but it’s often useful for stuff like this. For me it was a life-saver when WinZip decided that their claim oh-so-long ago of “free upgrades forever” uses different definitions of the words ‘free’ or ‘forever’ than I do, and my license key wouldn’t work past v9.
